~MERDEKA!!~

My poem which have won in my company's poem writing contest(huhu won RM50, not bad heh):

A Diverse Malaysia Celebrating Merdeka in Unity

Malaysia
,
How beautiful this country,
With so many colors,
Culture and races…
The variety of food alone,
Are countless…
From Malay, Chinese, Indian,
Japanese, Mediterranean and even Western…
This show how diverse,
Our beloved country is.
During this 49th Merdeka,
Let us unite our differences,
Let us celebrate together,
Let us wish one another,
“Selamat Menyambut Hari Merdeka.”
With a smile on our lips,
With hands outstretch…
Celebrating together in harmony…
Celebrating in diversity,
The essence of a progressive Malaysia

Happy Merdeka Malaysia!!!

"May we remember our fallen comrades in WW2, the sacrifice they gave, the lives that were lost, all for... the independence of our country."

Farewell GIKI interns

Our company had a farewell lunch for the GIKI(Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute) interns.

It was a memoriable one. I got to know all 4 of them and it completely changed my perspective of Pakistanis. They are not of the usual class...well educated and from the top university in Pakistan mind you. Their programming and IT skills are way way ahead compared to me or any local graduate in my opinion. And they are only year 2 students!!!

Sigh, see how far other countries like Pakistan have progress in higher education. I've even heard that Microsoft came to their university to hire 2 students there before.

The 4 interns, farewell and take care. We will remember you fondly at Intel.

The pics at the farewell lunch:

ps. I'll remember to smile more next time =P

It was at an Italian restaurant. The speghetti and pizzas was memoriable too...lol

Farewell and all da best in your studies! =D

Work as usual on Tuesday. Sheryl is down to Thailand this weekend from Thursday onwards. So so gonna miss her. Wonder why she doesn't leave comments or chat on chatbox anymore...sigh.
Some people tend to be introvert...and some extrovert. Me I'm extrovert:

extrovert /"Ekstr@v@;t/ (also technical extravert)
· n. an outgoing, socially confident person. Ø Psychology a person predominantly concerned with external things or objective considerations. Compare with introvert.
· adj. of, denoting, or typical of an extrovert.
– DERIVATIVES extroversion n. extroverted adj.
– ORIGIN C20 (earlier (C17) as extroversion): from extro- (var. of extra-) + L. vertere ‘to turn’.
And the opposite, introvert:

introvert
· n. a shy, reticent person. Ø Psychology a person predominantly concerned with their own thoughts and feelings rather than with external things. Compare with extrovert.
· adj. of, denoting, or typical of an introvert.
– DERIVATIVES introversion n. introversive /-"v@;sIv/ adj.
– ORIGIN C17: from mod. L. introvertere, from intro- ‘to the inside’ + vertere ‘to turn’.

Guess that's why they refrain from posting and type stuffs on the forums unless they're really confident about it. But I respect them, doesn't mean observation won't do any good too...

I do hope my darling would be a bit more extrovert. Don't be afraid or shy dear. Be confident ;) I'll be here for you so don't be afraid.

Weekends...=D

Was a nice weekend. Stayed over at my gf's place and went out with their family. Yea I know, you can say I'm like thick faced and cheap enough to do that, but what better choice do I have? I don't owned my own apartment or car to pick her up anytime, and on saturday it was her elder sis singing competition. So best thing is to join their crowd.

Sunday didn't end that well though, there was some arguments between her mother and the sisters because of the Kiwanis club issue. Well I do think that it's a nice exposure for the children in the society thing, but if they were to be force at going the meetings, then it wouldn't be good for them. Injustice, not respecting their rights, abuse, lack of freedom and such. Imagine sending your kid to a piano lessons when he hates piano. He'll grow up hating piano and you as well...

True, such things happen, but sometimes parents do not see it. The best they can do actually is to encourage their children to volunteer themselves and to tell them the benefits. Instill in them at a young age and don't pamper or be around them too much, as they learn not to be independent and stick to you...

If I'm a father one day, I would discipline my kids at a young age. Let them join all sort of healthy activities and sports. And making them love it...

Maybe parents these days have been too lenient, and the "dont-bother" type of attitude... More proactive is the way to go...sitting down watching tv and reading newspapers wont help your children be future leaders when they are out there in the world one day.

Life

Life isn't about the money,
Neither is it about the work,
There's so much more to living...
Yet many are blinded by them.
If a person were to look at you,
Work and money wouldn't matter...
As much as your health,
Your wife, and your family...
Study is not everything too..
I've seen how a CEO today,
was just a PMR graduate...
I've witness a manager,
Who wasn't a nerd,
Or was he really good at studies...
He was in fact good at sports,
A leader, a natural ppl pleaser...
And I'm sad to see...
Parents forcing their children so hard,
That kids today don't enjoy that much...
Neither do they join clubs,
Societies or being selected in duties...
Some even remain as members...
And in the end they just left.
Life is not about the money,
You can have all of it,
And end up like Jackson,
Or Paris-Hillton...
Work is not too...
You can be at the top like Hitler,
Bush or Trump...
But will you remember them?
The answer is no...
It's how they live their lives...
It's how they helped people...
It's how much of a good impression,
They've made to the public,
To their families...
And to their self...
I tell you...
I would rather remember Mother Theresa,
Princess Diana,
Mahatma Gandi,
And all the good people...
In the world.
We should take them as role models...
I'm not asking you to be like them...
At least in things that you can be...
Yet in all these...
None would have a more meaningful life,
If they have no love...
Love from friends,
Love from parents,
Family, wife and even your children...
Life...
Is only one,
Use it to the full...
Coz you never know,
When it's your turn to go.

We'll go through it all

We'll go through it all
Someone says even a young and a new-born tree need some 'light storm',
Not to take away its life, infact it will make it stronger in its roots.
The same happened in relationship, once in a while we do need the 'storm' in our lives,
Not to brake the relationship, infact it will make it stronger in its roots.

Sometimes the trees are complaining that they have enough 'storm' for their root,
They cried and they wept, yet they did not give up,
They remain strong in its roots.
The same happened in relationship, sometimes we r just so tired of what has happened,
We cried and we wept,
But if we take a minute to reflect upon it,
I believe it's not that bad, we can still hang on,
Do not give up and let the roots strengthen itself,
So that when the other storm of your life come upon us, we'll be ready,
Coz just like the small tree, we already have the strong roots.

Nice poem from Sur's blog...Thanks!

Hope my relationship with Sheryl goes a long way even with the difficulties ahead...

All these just makes it stronger...the "silver lining" that comes with the dark clouds... I'm so glad I met her. =)

Sheryl I lurvvvvv you!!! *echos*

1:1 with manager

Ching Yee, my intern manager, gave me a good 1:1 with me today.

And well at first I thought it was good news, till she read out the second agenda...and so forth:

"be firm - dont say things without confidence. Make people trust your proposal...assume resposibility - have confidence and volunteer yourself. Don't be intimidated.

"don't say only...but do as well. Show the actions."

"you can enjoy, but not too much. You need to know the corporate needs and fulfill it too."

"don't be a bystander, but volunteer yourself in assuming responsibility...you do not need to be told to do a task, raise up your hand! and say you gonna do this and that....and voice your opinions. Don't let anyone stop you. Remember Intel's value: 'Embrace change and challenge the status quo' which means challenge anybody, don't be afraid if you think you're right."

"learn, you're still young, you can do anything...give confidence to others that they can trust in you, such as a developer role, you can probably learn those programming languages yourself and remember: learn fast."

"At first you came to office with high motivation, but gradually you have less confidence and got intimidated. Bucked up..."

And asking her about the positives:
"like I told you to attend the meetings and be more serious about it, you've changed the next day, which was excellent."

"well there are..." (less on the positive...)

Lots of cannons flying, but I accept them...willingness to change for the better, so said.

It was like a FOCAL(year end performance review). They really take interns as if we are real employees @.@

There was more...so much I couldn't recall now.

Intel...not an easy place to work brother...

I think these advertisements kick asses...time for them to deal a blow to AMD. =D

I'm always facinated with graphics, even to the extend of learning how to create userbars and signatures just for the passion of it. I don't create them for money, but rather the interest in them, and having that feel good of completing one, just gives you a feel of accomplishment none can give.

Below are some userbars that I created:

gosh graphics...just gotta love them. ^^

About my work

My meetings are at 8am these days, from Tuesday to Thursday, while Monday and Friday it'll be from 10am till 11am. On the other hand, annual Bi-weekly staff meetings will be held every two weeks once at 7am on Friday mornings. @.@

The only day that I look forward to is...futsal on Monday! The other days will fly by real fast after that, Tuesday, Wednesday and so forth.

The pros and cons working in big companies such as Intel:
Pros:
i. You get to learn a lot, I mean a lot....
ii. Pay, not as much as petrochemical companies or bigger ones, but it is considered good.
iii. They are professionals. Or acting like one. Some are nice ^^
iv. You'll be happy, as it is a multi national global company, if you can handle it.
Cons:
i. politics @.@
ii. lots of meetings, some are early if you're not lucky
iii. workload - like gunung ledang, or worst, mount everest if you are of higher rank
iv. headaches (when you cant solve something)
v. people... the biggest headaches
vi. pride, too much, till it just irritates you in certain ppl!
viii. some people like me, who don't see money as motivation, or whatever multi
national global bs...I still see whether or not I'm happy here and whether I am of use, and
able to commit myself to the company, that is truly what drives me.

Ok maybe you're conculding I'm not happy here in Intel (as an intern mind u). Yea it's kinda a nice place to work, but I'm pretty sure somewhere out there, there are other better companies that are just waiting for you to explore. I'm not like some people, who takes intel as their whole life and like owing Intel something sorta stuff. Nope, I wanna see what's out there, getting expose to how other organizations deal with their business and employees.

My prayer now, is to enter some other company out there who would value my skillsets and my ability to contribute, and to br able to trust in me. I dunno which, but I just hope I would be happy working there...

(and certainly...never ever a developer/programmer role anymore)

Do wish me luck and keep me in your prayers. Love you all!

Am I exhausted?

I thought I would be refreshed after the weekends, but ended up feeling tired today.

Weekends was going out pn saturday, but we went back earlier as we both felt sleepy. I realised she had some flu and cough too in the cinema. Glad that she's almost recovered now.

Then on sunday it was at her house helping out with her assignment and folding those prayer papers(they are about to visit their ancestors I guess).

So here I am, back in office. Slept at 9.30pm last night although I went to bed at 8.30pm. x.x

Now I'm feeling even more tired. Maybe I need some of those chinese herb medicine drinks for extra energy.

Gosh, working life.
